Finishes

Chairs

As your order is being made, we will send you wood samples of the finish you specify to hone in on the exact color and finish you want. This is how we insure customers get the color and finish they desire.

Windsor chairs were traditionally finished with milk paint. We offer the milk paint finish and an acrylic latex finish.

We can blend two or more colors. For instance, our "Windsor Greens" are a mix of Pitch Black and Lexington Green. This blend creates colors which looks black green or green black. There is virtually no limit to the colors we can create.

We offer three types of finishes using either milk paint or acrylic latex.

One finish we offer is 2 coats of the paint color combination of your choice followed by 2 coats of paste wax. This finish creates a soft, rich look.

Another finish we have available is 2 coats of the blended paint followed by a couple of topcoats of satin or semi-gloss lacquer. The lacquer will darken the milk paint somewhat, and will give the chair a more satin or semi-gloss sheen.

Our third type of finish is an antique finish. The chair is painted using your choice of paint color, then sanded and stained for the aged look. Wax or lacquer is then applied.

Furniture

We have a variety of stains and finishes for the rest of our furniture. The most popular finish is satin brushing lacquer, but we also use polyurethene for high gloss finishes, shellac for a nice authentic finish (not for table tops or anywhere alcohol might be spilled), and oils and waxes for a flat finish which lets you see, touch, and feel the actual wood.
